2nd Nov 2019 - Bridgwater Carnival Coach for Locals & Old Oaks guests.
Coach seat (return times approx 9pm or 10.30pm) NB. Carnival starts 1 hour earlier this year
For guests staying at Old Oaks + Glastonbury & Street residents
The Somerset Carnivals are widely regarded as the largest illuminated processions in the UK and Europe, and here they are right on our doorstep!
Measuring up to a staggering 100ft long, the carnival floats and walking entries are the spectacular results of months of hard work and dedication by the many Somerset carnival clubs. It's impossible to put into words the magnificence of some of the entries. The sheer size, sound and colours fill the streets from pavement to sky.
Competition to create the biggest, best and most incredible carnival carts is very fierce among the many clubs, so you can be assured of more and more spectacular entries every year.
Somerset Carnivals are definitely not just for kids!
On carnival day, most routes into Bridgwater town will be closed off by 4.30pm, so it's important to get in early if you want a parking space. There's live entertainment all afternoon in the heart of the town, so no chance of getting bored pre-carnival!
Leave the car behind and let us worry about driving, parking or traffic jams. Immerse yourself in the carnival atmosphere and experience an event you'll never forget.
Coach returning at around 8.30pm / 9pm (no Squibbing)
Our coach will be parked up at Bridgwater College this year. This is right near the procession start point. An ideal place to view all the carts before all the action starts. There will be toilets and refreshments nearby. As the procession will have passed by around 8.30pm, you will be able to return at an earlier time.
Coach returning at approx10.30pm (opportunity to watch the Squibbing)
The Squibbing display, which is unique to Bridgwater Carnival, takes place in the High Street at approx. 9.45pm. Our coach will be parked as close as possible to where all the action takes place.
